Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun has reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to strengthening trade and investment ties with the United States following talks with US Ambassador to Thailand Sean O'Neill on Friday.

She said the discussions were constructive and reflected shared confidence in elevating bilateral economic relations, which have spanned more than 190 years.

Thailand has also proposed the United States consider tariff exemptions for products that cannot be produced domestically, particularly key agricultural exports.

Such measures would help reduce costs for American consumers while promoting more balanced and complementary trade, the minister said.

Ms Suphajee also announced plans to visit the United States in early May to attend the SelectUSA Investment Summit 2026, accompanied by a delegation of leading Thai businesses.

The visit will focus on expanding Thai investment in strategic sectors in the US, as well as strengthening partnerships with major American investors in Thailand, including the US‑Asean Business Council and the US Chamber of Commerce. She is also expected to witness the signing of several business memorandums of understanding.

In addition, Thailand plans to rebalance trade by increasing imports of essential goods and raw materials from the United States, such as agricultural and energy products, underscoring its role as a responsible and reliable economic partner.

In 2025, the United States was Thailand's second‑largest trading partner, with total trade valued at more than $93.6 billion (3 trillion baht).
