Trabzonspor have been dealt a significant setback ahead of their Turkish Super Lig clash against Alanyaspor, with in-form striker Paul Onuachu ruled out through injury, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.The Nigerian international, who has been one of the standout performers in Turkey this season, has been withdrawn from the travelling squad after sustaining a muscle problem during training.
The 31-year-old has enjoyed a prolific campaign, scoring 24 goals in 28 appearances and contributing 40 per cent of Trabzonspor’s total league goals, underlining his importance to the side.
Trabzonspor confirmed the development on Friday, explaining that the striker experienced discomfort during a training session at the Mehmet Ali Yılmaz facilities under the supervision of head coach Fatih Tekke.
“During today’s training session, our player Paul Onuachu felt pain and stiffness in the upper front muscle group of his left thigh,” the club stated.
“Following an initial assessment, a muscle injury is suspected, and he has therefore been removed from the squad for the Corendon Alanyaspor match. Treatment has been commenced by our medical team.”
