Speaking late Friday night at the conclusion of a two-day joint sitting of parliament, where the cabinet outlined its policy agenda, Mr Anutin stressed that every policy must be translated into concrete action.

“The cabinet welcomed all input from lawmakers and will incorporate useful suggestions into its work,” he said, noting that the country faces both short- and long-term challenges.

“All 23 policies outlined are core commitments that must be delivered within this administration’s term.”

Responding to criticism from the opposition, Mr Anutin rejected allegations that he had delegated responsibilities to various ministers without oversight, insisting that assignments were made strategically.

“Every task is given to those best suited to deliver results,” he said, adding that failure to perform would not be tolerated.

“Debate is part of the democratic process, but it must be grounded in truth,” he said, urging opposition members to rely on factual information in their scrutiny of the government’s work.

Addressing remarks by opposition MP Parit Wacharasindhu, Mr Anutin defended the government’s administrative structure, saying it followed a cluster-based approach similar to the private sector.

He clarified that ministers and deputy prime ministers were assigned oversight roles based on expertise, while key portfolios under coalition parties were managed accordingly.

Mr Anutin also dismissed claims that he avoided fieldwork, citing his visits to flood-hit areas and border regions to assess situations firsthand.

“Understanding the reality on the ground is essential for effective decision-making,” he said, adding that he does not engage in symbolic appearances but focuses on tangible outcomes.

He reiterated that all ministers had been granted full authority to carry out their duties, while remaining accountable for results.

The government, he said, is committed to transparency and ready to address shortcomings where necessary, including issuing public apologies when warranted.

Mr Anutin said the government was willing to support the establishment of ad hoc committees if conducted in line with legislative procedures, while emphasising that all sides — government and opposition alike — share the common goal of serving the public.

The prime minister also insisted that amending the constitution remains a priority, even if it was not explicitly listed in the policy statement.

He said the government had been given a mandate from the public following the Feb 8 referendum which showed strong public support for rewriting the charter. Now the process must proceed through parliament in accordance with the relevant rulings by the Constitutional Court, he added.

Official results from the Election Commission show 60.16% of voters approved drafting a new constitution in the referendum vote.
