The Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Akaliro, has called on newly promoted senior officers to sharpen their professional competence as they take on greater responsibilities within the military.Speaking at a decoration ceremony held in Taraba State on Friday, where the officers were adorned with their new ranks amid fanfare and commendations, Akaliro made clear that advancement in the armed forces carries weight beyond personal achievement, describing promotion as a call to deeper service rather than a mere recognition of past performance.
He charged the officers to invest in their skill sets, stressing that continuous professional development is indispensable for those ascending to higher command.
“New ranks come with greater responsibilities, and I urge you to live up to the expectations associated with your new positions. To whom much is given, much is expected,” he said.
The brigade commander also expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for deeming officers from the brigade worthy of elevation.
For those who did not benefit from the current promotion exercise, he offered words of encouragement, urging them to remain committed, resilient, and undeterred in anticipation of future opportunities.
