SEOUL, April 10 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean baseball league on Friday set a record for the fewest games played to reach 1 million in attendance.
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) said its attendance for the ongoing season reached 1,011,465 fans through 55 games, after the five games played Friday drew a combined 91,459.
The previous record had been 60 games to top 1 million fans, in 2025. The KBO went to pass each million milestone in record pace in 2025 and finished the season with an all-time record of over 12.3 million fans.
The KBO is averaging 18,390 fans per game so far. And with three more sellouts Friday, 32 of 55 games have been played in front of capacity crowds.
The three sold-out games were: the NC Dinos versus the Samsung Lions at Daegu Samsung Lions Park with 24,000; the Kia Tigers against the Hanwha Eagles at Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark with 17,000; and the Lotte Giants against the Kiwoom Heroes at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul with 16,000.
The LG Twins hosted the SSG Landers at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul with 23,122 fans on hand, just 628 short of a sellout, while the Doosan Bears visited the KT Wiz at the 18,700-seat KT Wiz Park in Suwon in front of 11,337 fans.
